Russian military halts Syria sky incident prevention interactions with US as of June 19

The Russian Defense Ministry announced it is halting cooperation with its US counterparts in the framework of the Memorandum on the Prevention of Incidents and Ensuring Air Safety in Syria following the coalition’s downing of a Syrian warplane.

The ministry has demanded a thorough investigation by the US military command into the incident with the Syrian government military jet, with the results to be shared with the Russian side.

“In the areas of combat missions of Russian air fleet in Syrian skies, any airborne objects, including aircraft and unmanned vehicles of the [US-led] international coalition, located to the west of the Euphrates River, will be tracked by Russian ground and air defense forces as air targets,” the Russian Ministry of Defense stated.

Russia to treat US jets in Syria as 'targets' after America guns down first regime warplane

Russia has said it will treat US warplanes operating in parts of Syria where its air forces are present as "targets" amid a diplomatic row caused by the downing of a Syrian jet.

The country's defence ministry said the change in position would apply to all aircraft, including those operating as part of the US-backed coalition.

It will also suspend a hotline between Russia and the US set up to prevent mid-air collisions.

The ministry said in a statement: "All kinds of airborne vehicles, including aircraft and UAVs of the international coalition detected to the west of the Euphrates River will be tracked by the Russian SAM systems as air targets."

AP Recites Government Narrative of WTC Destruction as Fact, Without Attribution to Any Source

Last year’s Europhysics News feature by Steven Jones, Robert Korol, Tony Szamboti, and Ted Walter was back in the news yesterday when the Associated Press published a so-called “AP Fact Check” describing the four authors as “vocal Sept. 11 conspiracy theorists.” [https://www.europhysicsnews.org/…/pdf/…/04/epn2016474p21.pdf]

While the AP’s brazen dismissal of the scientific article was typical of mainstream reporting, the most shameless violation of journalistic standards appears in the story’s title and opening sentence, which stated the official explanation of the World Trade Center’s destruction as fact — not even bothering to attribute the claim to any source.

‘CIA’s Cherry Bomb’: WikiLeaks #Vault7 reveals wireless network targets

Wikileaks notes that the common use of WiFi devices in homes, offices, and public spaces makes them ideal for these so-called ‘Man-In-The-Middle’ attacks as the Cherry Blossom program can easily monitor, control and manipulate the Internet traffic of connected users.

Malicious content can be injected into the data stream between the user and the internet service, which exploits vulnerabilities in the target’s computer or operating system, according to WikiLeaks.

No physical access is required to implant the customized Cherry Blossom firmware on a wireless device as some devices allow their firmware to be upgraded over a wireless link.

Putin compares former FBI Director Comey to NSA leaker Snowden, offers asylum

Editor's Note: That's Hilarious!!!

Russia's president, Vladimir Putin, is speaking out about the White House's latest turmoil between President Donald Trump and the interactions he's had with former FBI director James Comey.

"Does it make [Comey] any different to [Edward] Snowden?" Putin posed this question during an interview Thursday, comparing Comey to someone who copied and leaked classified information from the National Security Agency in 2013 without any authorization.

"Snowden's a human rights activist who defends some kind of position. And if there's some kind of persecution, we would be ready to offer political asylum to Comey if he's persecuted in the U.S.," Putin went on to say.

Germany Plans to Fingerprint Children and Spy on Personal Messages

Germany is planning a new law giving authorities the right to look at private messages and fingerprint children as young as 6, the interior minister said on Wednesday after the last government gathering before a national election in September.

Ministers from central government and federal states said encrypted messaging services, such as WhatsApp and Signal, allow militants and criminals to evade traditional surveillance.

"We can't allow there to be areas that are practically outside the law," interior minister Thomas de Maiziere told reporters in the eastern town of Dresden.

Militant attacks in France, Britain and Germany have prompted European governments to tighten up on surveillance of suspected militants.

Raqqa battle: 'Staggering' civilian toll in US strikes on IS

BBC

UN war crimes investigators say US-led coalition air strikes on Islamic State militants in the Syrian city of Raqqa are causing "staggering loss of life".

Hundreds of civilians are reported to have been killed since March, as coalition warplanes support an offensive by a Kurdish-led alliance.

In the past week, Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) fighters have pushed into the west, east and north of Raqqa.

The battle for the city has also led to 160,000 civilians fleeing their homes.
